Saturday I made it to the city in time to see a few shows in chelsea, Yayoi Kusama was the first one. I had no idea that she's 80 years old, shit that's how old my grandpa is. She uses our eyes and the idea of illusion while still making beautiful paintings. The infinity room in the back was a really good suprise. everyone lines up in front of a big white box and a guardman stands at the door and lets 2 or 3 peoplein at a time. I walk in, take a few steps and he says to stop there. and then he shuts the door. INFINITY. Its a cool place. But you can't walk around in it, I took a few steps and almost fell in. I'd have taken some photoshots but everytime I turn on my camera it turns itself off.
Dana Shutz's Missing Pictures show was also really fun to see. She has a strange sense of humor thats makes me want to built blanket forts with her in the King's palace. Her marks and brushstrokes are really masterful and makes such a lively image out of still characters. A woman brought in her small scruffy dog (one a king would have) and he looked around and planted himself to watch the Guitar Girl painting. Thats the second time i've seen a pet look at paintings. I think its real. People have pets that watch TV right? so cats and dogs probably think paintings are really interesting. Especially when there are images of humans.
I've been thinking about creatures lately. It all started with Manimals: animals invented by man that i thought of when driving back to New Brunsquick from Savannah, GA on spring break 09! Maybe it started before then but I can't remember. So since then they've evolved into creatures that are part of some cool new coloring books I am making. I'll scan the pages into the digital universe soon and maybe try to sell them on etsy?! and also at the waffle cafe/artist bazaar at party central on the 3rd. But the real reason I'm making them is not for making monies, because who needs money? I get to teach english to children in Taiwan this summer for a few weeks and the program website says that we should bring little gifts for the kids and who has money to buy presents so I thought oh i'l l make them artthings. and coloring book turned into an anti-coloring book but still colorable pages. who knows.

apres on utlise le mot "etre," on n'utilise pas un article indefini. Alors, il vaut meilleur si vous dites: "je suis enfant"
