Miquel Barcelo: first exhibit I saw at the Giardini spanish pavillion. really good, large, textured surfaces. alot of the canvases were used to catch drippings from painting the ceiling at the united nations building in geneva. the paintings about the sea didn't need words to tell you, these are about the ocean. but still they aren't 'boring landscapes' i haven't seen them before is what i am trying to say. everyone is always trying to make something other people haven't seen before. something new and fresh. something contemporary.
